L.A. ENGLISH TEST is divided into three sections:

SECTION 1: Listening Comprehension

SECTION 1 is divided into two parts:

Part A

Directions: In Part A,  you will hear 10 short sentences. Each sentence will be spoken only once. The sentences you hear will not be written out for you. Therefore, you must listen carefully to understand what the speaker says.

After you hear a sentence, read the six choices ,decide which one is closest in meaning to the sentence you have heard, and then click on the best answer.

Part B

Directions: In Part B, you will hear 10 short conversations between two speakers. At the end of each conversation, a third person will ask a question. You will hear each conversation and question about it only once. Therefore, you must listen carefully to understand what each speaker says.

After you hear a conversation and the question about it, read the six possible choices, and then click on the best answer to the question you have heard.

SECTION 2: Structure & Written Expression

Directions: In SECTION 2, there are 25 incomplete sentences. Below each sentence are six choices. You are to click on the one choice which best completes the sentence.

SECTION 3: Vocabulary

Directions:  There are 20 questions in SECTION 3. Each sentence in this section has a word or phrase underlined. From the six choices given, you are to choose the one word or phrase which could be substituted for the underlined word or phrase without changing the meaning of the sentence.
